We love Bambi – Party%20-%20https://kathastrophal.de/we-love-bambi-party"> We love Bambi – Party">
Last Thursday, the Bambi Awards took place in Wiesbaden. We had gotten an invitation to enter a lottery where you could win a ticket via my school’s mailing list.. so I entered and soon forgot about it. Then Sven and a friend of ours won tickets and I was a little sad that I couldn’t join them.. but thankfully, I won a ticket a few days later because someone returned theirs. We initially thought that we had won tickets to the actual awards, but were then informed that they were for a party hosted by the city and a radio station and that some of the stars were going to walk the red carpet at this party. On the day of the party, we still had courses to attend, the bus I wanted to take didn’t show up and I had a little nervous breakdown about that [sorry…], so we were a little late. When we arrived, the Kurhaus was already crowded and some „stars“ were walking the red carpet. We saw Christine Neubauer, Nazan Eckes, some people who didn’t make it on Popstars/DSDS [=Germany’s Pop Idol/American Idol] and Anastasia Zampounidis. Mostly on screens because there were so many other people around us, but still! You don’t see famous persons every day, so we couldn’t really complain, but we would have prefered Lady Gaga or, in my case, Florian David Fitz. [google him! :D] Anastasia. Afterwards, we were asked to go outside and watch the fireworks. The Kurhaus from the outside. Fireworks! Then we watched the awards show live on a big screen. We decided to go on the balcony and sat down there. The Kurhaus is so beautiful! Sven went and bought us something to drink – two glasses of bubbly and a beer for him. He had to pay 17 euros! That’s quite expensive… Don’t worry, we gave him the money for our drinks 😉 The show was… okay. The Bambi awards always seem so random to me. I don’t watch them regularly and can’t prove this, but it seemed like they made up awards for the stars who were willing to get to Wiesbaden. This is not to say they don’t deserve it, I just don’t know if some of the categories existed before. So Justin Bieber got an award for „Entertainment“, Ric O’Barry for „Our Earth“ and Gwyneth Paltrow [who hosted the awards] for „Film International“. There were some great perfomances and touching speeches.. I loved that they awarded 3 people as „Silent Heroes“ to honor their voluntary work. And then there was the award for „Integretion“ that created quite the scandal in Germany. It was given to Bushido, a rapper who had stuck out before because of his anti-gay and misogynistic statements. In his acceptance speech, he tried to justify himself without apologizing, which just wasn’t cool. I think some things shouldn’t be forgiven. Hardly anyone clapped… When the show was finished, we met a friend who was working at the Kurhaus and left shortly after … but not without taking a picture in front of the Bambi! Overall, it was a nice evening. We were basically watching tv in fancy clothes, but it was an interesting experience and a lot of fun!
P.S: I’m going to show you my outfit details soon.. We have to re-take some pictures because most of them turned out completely yellow, so it’s taking a little longer. Sorry!

I love that no one clapped for the homophobic misogynist! Looks like an incredible building.
