Last week I’ve already shown you my favourite pictures and outfits from Fuerteventura, but today I wanted to share my best tips for the island.
Sven and I bought this travel guide*, read it on the plane and decided which places we wanted to visit.

Der beste Tipp: Leiht euch ein Auto!

My best tip: Rent a car!

fuerteventura04

Because it’s the best to get to all these places on your own terms. We had a rental car for two days and spent the rest of our vacation at the hotel. We booked the car in advance with Tuicars but we also saw lots of local providers.

Meine 5 Lieblingsorte auf Fuerteventura

My top 5 places to see in Fuerteventura

1. Mirador Morro Velosa

Mirador Morro Velosa, Fuerteventura

This viewpoint is located on 645 m height between Betancuria and Antigua. It has a great view of the volcanic mountains in all directions and sometimes you can even see up to Lanzarote. Apart from the great view terrace, there is also an exciting exhibition with information about the history of Fuerteventura.

Another wonderful viewpoint: The lighthouse Faro de la Entallada is located on the southeast coast, close to Las Playitas. You can reach it via a 7km long, narrow road and once you’re there, you’re almost alone with the elements. The building itself is not open to tourists, but a small path leads to a platform from which you can overlook the coast.

3. Betancuria

fuerteventura26

In our travel guide, Betancuria is called the most beautiful place on the island – of course we had to see it! Plenty of beautiful white houses, cobbled streets, the first cathedral of the Canary Islands and we even heard a fantastic guitar player the whole time we were there … it really is beautiful!

4. Ajuy & Playa de los Muertos

fuerteventura32

The chalk cliffs, the beautiful beach and the incredibly blue waters here are well worth a visit, but take good care of your equipment! A huge wave destroyed our camera when we were there. Another tip from Captain Obvious: black sand gets incredibly hot!

5. Corralejo

Our hotel was located here and I have lost my heart to this impressive dunes. In the north of the island you can take long strolls along the beach and explore this beautiful nature reserve. Always lovely if you can get back to your home away from home at the end of the day and say „This is my favourite place on the island“. 🙂
